Venue: Apex Gallery

In the work of Nikolaki Dima, colour is not an addition—it is the language through which he understands the world. Streets, rooftops and skies become orchestras of hue: saturated blues sweep across the horizon, bold reds anchor village houses, soft greens settle into distant fields. His brushwork moves with a sense of rhythm, almost like music, infusing each scene with energy and life.

These paintings capture familiar corners of Bury St Edmunds, Lavenham and surrounding towns and villages, yet they appear transformed—brightened by the artist’s Mediterranean eye. Nikolaki approaches Suffolk not as a subdued landscape, but as one rich with shifting tones, subtle luminosity and quiet warmth. Even the overcast sky becomes an opportunity for colour to break through.

This exhibition presents a dialogue between two places: the English landscapes he has grown to love, and the vibrant visual language shaped by his Greek heritage. In bringing these worlds together, Nikolaki invites viewers to experience Suffolk anew—alive, expressive and full of colour.
