Len Phillips Swing Orchestra featuring Matt Ford and Nicola Emmanuelle
Following the critically acclaimed and Sky Arts televised 100 Years of Big Bands that the band brought to us in 2023, we’re delighted that they are returning with Another... 100 Years of Big Bands.
The story begins in
Louis Armstrong’s New Orleans and the
Paul Whiteman Orchestra, through the golden age of
Count Basie,
Glenn Miller,
Duke Ellington and
Benny Goodman, right up to current artists
Harry Connick Jr and
Michael Bublé, paying tribute to legends
Frank Sinatra and
Ella Fitzgerald along the way.
The 17-piece
LPSO will be led by the highly respected trumpet player and vocalist
Georgina Jackson and they will be joined by two of the finest swing singers in the UK,
Matt Ford (
Friday Night is Music Night,
John Wilson Orchestra,
BBC Proms) and
Nicola Emmanuelle (
The Rat Pack: Live From Las Vegas).
The
LPSO receives regular airplay on BBC Radio 2 and Jazz FM and tour Britain’s concert halls and jazz clubs and recent collaborators include
Joe Stilgoe,
The Puppini Sisters,
Claire Martin,
Lance Ellington and
Clare Teal.
Band member resumés read like a who’s who of show-business royalty. Between them, have worked with
Michael Bublé,
Ella Fitzgerald,
The Beatles,
Diana Ross,
Tom Jones,
Tony Bennett,
Joss Stone,
Curtis Stigers,
Burt Bacharach and
Robbie Williams.
