See the earth as only astronauts have!Following the huge success of Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon installation at The Apex in 2019, we are delighted to present his spectacular installation Gaia, a seven-metre replica of planet Earth.
Gaia has recently been shown in Hong Kong, Australia, Taiwan and at the Natural History Museum in London.
Gaia features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface. The artwork provides the opportunity to see our planet on this scale, floating in three-dimensions, suspended three meters above the auditorium floor. A specially made surround sound composition by BAFTA award winning composer Dan Jones is played alongside the sculpture.
See the earth as only astronauts have - common features of the experience for astronauts are a feeling of awe for the planet, a profound understanding of the interconnection of all life, and a renewed sense of responsibility for taking care of the environment.
“I hope visitors to Gaia get to see the Earth as if from space; an incredibly beautiful and precious place. An ecosystem we urgently need to look after – our only home." - Luke Jerram

A message from The Apex team
As The Apex has been unable to present a live event since March, we would like to suggest a donation of just £3 per person to see Gaia - every donation we receive will play a crucial part in helping The Apex on its journey to reopening. We would be delighted if you could donate more, or if you wish you can waive any donation and experience Gaia free of any charge.
